Volunteer Lawyer’s Assistant

ATLEU is seeking five volunteer Lawyer’s Assistants to work with our solicitors on their casework.

We are an award winning legal charity working for victims of trafficking and labour exploitation in housing, immigration and compensation law. Our casework varies from first tier tribunals to the Supreme Court.

As one of our volunteers, you would have the opportunity to support our casework by assisting our lawyers in all aspects of case management including drafting witness statements, client meetings, liaising with support providers and local authorities, research, preparing legal bundles, filing and attending at court and tribunal. You would also help with reception and message taking, data entry and other general office duties.

Each volunteer is expected to commit to two days per week for six months. You will be given a thorough induction and training, as well as learning opportunities throughout your volunteering. We also run a mentor scheme for all volunteers and we can pay actual travel expenses of up to £10 a day..

The next cohort of volunteers will start in the week beginning 3 September 2018. Training will take place on Monday 3 September, and it is important that you are available on this date.
