We have an exceptional opportunity to join our award winning legal team in 2024:

Lead Immigration Lawyer

all applicants should complete our equality and diversity monitoring form.

We are looking for a dynamic and committed solicitor (or barrister with authorisation to conduct litigation) to join our legal team as Lead Immigration Lawyer. This is an exciting role, and will suit someone who enjoys using the law creatively and working collaboratively.

ATLEU has acted in many of the most significant trafficking cases, including the first six to be heard by the Supreme Court. This role offers the opportunity to shape UK law to improve protections for all survivors.

Within ATLEU, lawyers are able to balance a small caseload alongside opportunities to research and develop strategic challenges and share their knowledge through developing and delivering training, legal resources and providing second-tier advice to advisers and support workers. This approach offers excellent skills development and career progression, within a highly specialist and experienced team that works supportively and collaboratively. In an increasingly pressurised legal aid sector, this role provides the space and time for developing legal strategies and tools that respond to the systemic challenges faced by survivors of trafficking.

The role includes the provision of immigration advice and representation to survivors of trafficking and slavery under a legal aid contract. We also secure funding to support the provision of specialist advice which falls outside of legal aid.

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of five years’ PQE / relevant legal experience and experience of providing supervision, who is passionate about ATLEU’s mission and values. If you can demonstrate a track record of providing high quality legal representation in complex cases, ATLEU can help you develop your skills in providing expert legal representation in a trafficking context, and in training others.
