Help us to amend the proposed Nationality and Borders Bill

Your MP will soon be asked to vote on the Nationality and Borders Bill and we need you to write to them asking them to support our amendments.

Many of the issues faced by survivors of trafficking are little understood. To encourage the government to change its mind we need you to engage with your MP so they know this is a priority.

Please send an email to your MP now, especially if you live in a Conservative constituency.

The proposals will:

  • Penalise the survivors of modern slavery for not telling authorities they've been trafficked straight away. Trauma knows no deadlines.

  • Allow traffickers to flourish and lead to fewer prosecutions

  • Lead to more county lines cases, child abuse and exploitation

  • Leave survivors of trafficking who need support, including children, without help

  • Create a more complex system, with more delays, at greater expense to the public purse.

The anti-slavery sector is united in its concerns about the impact of the Bill. On Monday a letter was sent to all MPs highlighting the unintended consequences of the Bill on this highly vulnerable group. It has been signed by over 100 CEO's of anti-slavery organisations, a hugely powerful indication of the sector's deep concern.

ATLEU submitted written evidence to parliament on the impact of Part 4 of the proposed Nationality and Borders Bill will have on survivors of trafficking and slavery.
