ATLEU is the only UK charity that provides specialist, holistic legal advice to survivors of trafficking and slavery
About Us
‘The most important quality one can have is to be brave.’
Mrs P, former domestic worker
Founded in 2013, we aim to secure safety and justice for survivors by using and reforming the law.
We are strategic.
We prioritise cases that can be used to improve the law to achieve justice for far more survivors around the UK.
We are policy leaders.
We build coalitions, mobilise the sector to campaign for systemic change and empower survivors to lead change.
We recognise the value and expertise of survivors.
Our Lived Experience Group is essential to supporting the development of our services and priorities.
We work to develop the sector.
We share our specialist knowledge with the wider sector through our training, our online resource ATHUB and our advice line, to improve services for all survivors.

Annual Report
‘I was very badly treated, working until midnight, not clothed or fed properly. I was patient but things got worse until the point where my employer raised his hand to me, and I said enough. When I first came to ATLEU, I had no idea how long my case would take but it didn’t matter. I never thought about giving up.’
We speak about the appalling abuse and violence that our clients experience to help people understand why they need our support. What often gets lost is the courage, resilience and tenacity that survivors demonstrate during their brutally long and bureaucratic journey towards justice and safety.
Our report ➔ shows how we are using the law to ensure that all survivors in the UK receive the safety and justice they deserve.

Saltworks
Our private law firm, Saltworks, aims to bring ATLEU’s pioneering work at the forefront of immigration and employment law to a radically different client base. All profits from Saltworks go to fund our work with survivors of trafficking and slavery.
Saltworks’ immigration practice helps people to live and work in the UK
Saltworks employment practice focuses on helping workers to be treated fairly at work
Saltworks education practice helps protect children’s right to an education.
We need to find new ways to fund our work and we hope that Saltworks will provide an innovative new model for other legal aid charities who need to secure the services they offer into the future.
At the same time, we’re offering our new private clients the chance to improve their own lives and the lives of vulnerable people who desperately need our help.
So if you need legal advice or representation, please contact us ➔ and one of our award winning lawyers will be there to help.
