There is a legal advice crisis for survivors of trafficking and modern slavery, large numbers of whom are not able to access timely and specialist legal advice.

We are calling for changes to legal aid funding to end this legal advice crisis.

Survivors of trafficking and modern slavery are not able to access specialist legally aided advice and representation when they need it due to a huge gulf in availability.

We have repeatedly urged the government to take urgent action to address a legal aid sector that is collapsing now. The current situation is untenable and urgent.
The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) has had a devastating impact on the legal aid sector. Survivors are not able to access timely and quality legally aided advice and representation when they need it, with devastating consequences.
